So why do we have probationary periods ………………
Probationary periods, whether they be for 3 or 6 months are vital for both the Company and individual to assess the right fit in a role.
So why is it that so many Companies, allow individuals to pass their probationary period knowing they are not the right fit.
Well there is a question that I will answer for you;
1) The Company believe the individual will improve. This only happens on rare occasions.
2) They don’t like to give bad news. It is much easier to have the conversation during the probationary period than 12 months down the line.
So my message to Companies is, ensure you have a robust probationary process in place – this will help you managerially and financially in the long run.
