Yes redundancy!
As we come through the Furlough process many businesses are facing some tough decisions.
Come August the support from the Government will start to diminish for businesses which will put extra pressure on you as business owners.
You may have to start to look at ways to reduce the need for redundancy; such as reduced pay/working hours, reduction in business activities, flexible working and voluntary redundancy etc.
Redundancy is the last resort for a business, it is not pleasant for anyone.
Some points to remember as business owners if there is no alternative than to make redundancies:
· Treat everyone with dignity and respect
· Consult with those affected
· Communicate with those who are not affected
· Understand and follow the correct process.
WARNING – if you get the process wrong, this could lead to claims for unfair dismissal. You really don’t want to end up in a tribunal.
