An employee’s first impressions of a Company have a significant impact on their integration within the team and their level of job satisfaction.
On-boarding is an opportunity for a business to welcome their new recruit, help them settle in as quickly as possible and ensure they have the knowledge and support they need to perform their role.
If you do not have an effective on-boarding process it may impact your turnover, absenteeism and Company brand!
A good on-boarding process contains the following elements:
- A clear outline of the job/role requirements.
- Details of the Company’s history, its culture and values, and its products and services
- Explanation of terms and conditions including key policies.
- Practical information such as office opening hours, telephone and IT systems
- Where the facilities are.
- Showing how the employee fits into the team and how their role fits with the Company’s strategy and goals.
- An awareness of other functions within the Company, and how the employee fits within that.
- Meeting with key employees.
- Health and safety information
Don’t forget, first impressions do really count.
