Have you ever wondered what an HR Consultant actually does?
Here is my view on it………
While there are a large number of HR activities an HR Consultant might perform for a company, most of the responsibilities laid at their feet can be boiled down to six basic functions:
- Tracking applicants & hiring strategically
- Managing benefits & time off
- Training managers & employees
- Streamlining the on-boarding process
- Resolving interoffice conflicts
- Handling legal concerns
All of these activities have a tendency to expand rapidly as companies add employees and it doesn’t take long before handling them becomes a job in itself.
That said, there are still some owners and managers that try to go it alone, attempting to do both their job (which may be highly technical and/or time-consuming) and the work normally assigned to an HR Consultant.
The problem with this strategy is it often leaves HR activities as secondary to tasks that more directly impact the bottom line.
