I was at an event yesterday and was speaking to an individual about their experience of being made redundant from a large ‘well-known’ organisation.
I was not only horrified to hear how it had affected them, but also how the Consultation process was handled – sorry I meant to say was not handled.
Redundancy is a difficult situation that businesses and individuals may face at some point and therefore it is so important to get it right.
The key to getting it right is to involve ‘experienced’ HR Professionals who know how to conduct the process fairly and equitably.
As mentioned, although it is a difficult situation, if handled professionally and legally, at least the individual will leave the organisation knowing they had been treated fairly and with respect. Not forgetting, of course, this will lead to less employment tribunal claims!
