The Tribunal found that a Woman was unfairly dismissed by the Bradford District Apprenticeship Training Agency due to the fact that she became pregnant.
She was initially employed on a year’s contract and was verbally offered by the Agency an extension for a further year.
Unfortunately once the Agency were told of the news of her pregnancy she was informed the extension to her contract would no longer happen and the Agency dismissed her, citing that her contract had come to an end.
Although the Agency had not confirmed any of the agreed changes in writing, the Tribunal found the Agency had carried out a serious act of discrimination.
She was awarded £25,000.
